Giving at New Day Baptist
In Matthew 6, we see Jesus list giving as a normal Christian practice similar to prayer or fasting. Giving is a basic biblical principle, and even more than that, giving is also a heart condition. The Old Testament focused on the tithe (first 10%) being given to God. We are to give back what is already His—we’re merely stewards of His money.
If the Old Testament focused on the Law and tithing, how much more should the New Testament church (us today!) focus on grace. In short, we believe tithing is the beginning, not the end. Grace giving is a better answer (2 Corinthians 9:7). As God gives to each accordingly then we give back accordingly. (2 Corinthians 8:1-12)
